This project ended on March 31, 2017 (Research period: 8 months). We are planning to continue conducting the kinds of researches.

In this project we would provide some high-accurate visualization technologies for the underground in Ryukyu-arc islands. This should come in useful to prevent various geohazards, for example sinkholes, landslides, liquefaction and so on. Furthermore, we would unravel the rock weathering/forming mechanism based on the proposed visualization technologies and interdisciplinary knowledge, and its environmental and disaster risk might be evaluated.

We will hold "First International Workshop on Role of Microorganism and Thermo-Hydro-Chemico-Mechanical Process in Geoengineering and Geoscience" on March 20th, 2017. The objective of this workshop is to extend our knowledge in theoretical, experimental, computational and field-based approaches in the researches of Geomicrobiology in engineering and sciences. Distinguished researchers in Japan and Turkey have also been invited. Please attend if you can. (Details)
